Michel Ferre – Nonlinear physics of ecosystems

Michel’s research interests have been focused on nonlinear science phenomena, ranging from the collective behavior of nonlinear oscillators to topological solutions such as vortex in liquid crystals. In Ehud Meron’s group, Michel focuses mainly on fronts – spatial solutions that depict the interface between different states of a given vegetation model. Due to their relevant role in ecosystem formation, knowing their responses against different environmental parameters becomes critical, especially under a climate change scenario, where the hierarchy of ecosystem shaping mechanisms can be disrupted.
